Repair Tips For Your Dryer

A dryer is an important appliance. This appliance dries your clothing, so you don't have to hang up everything out on the line outside. A dryer is a convenient appliance to have, as hanging the wash on the line can be time-consuming, not to mention you have to worry about the sun damaging your clothing, or anything else happening to your clothing. If your dryer has stopped working, there may be a few things you can do to get it working properly again. Hiring an appliance repairman is something you can do to help get your appliance working again. Read on for some tips to help you get your dryer working again.

Clean Out The Dryer Vent

Dryer vents can become clogged with lint. The buildup can be a fire hazard, but it can also cause issues with being able to heat your clothing properly. You should clean out the dryer vent every single time you dry a load of laundry to prevent this type of buildup. Remove the dryer lint trap and clean out the lint inside. Vacuum the lint trap out to remove anything that has built up inside. Then, pull off the vent hose from the back of the dryer and remove the buildup inside by running a hose brush through the hose. If you have to, replace the hose altogether. Clean out the opening of the dryer vent on the exterior of your home as well.

Check The Gas Line

If your gas dryer is no longer heating up, it may be because the gas line is no longer turned on. Be sure the gas is turned on and you don't have any leaks. Check the flame to see if you actually have a flame. Turn on the dryer and look at the flame to see if it stays lit. If it isn't lighting or will not stay lit, you may have a problem with the flame sensor. It may need to be replaced.

Check For Power

Your dryer may be plugged into an outlet that has stopped working or has some other issues. Check the outlet to see if it has power going to it. Check to be sure you didn't blow a fuse in your home, or that the outlet hasn't gone bad. Also, inspect the power cord to the dryer to be sure it isn't damaged and doesn't need to be replaced.

If your dryer has stopped working, there are a few things you may be able to do in order to get it working properly. Hire a professional appliance repair company if you are not able to get it working on your own.
